iChen™ AI Molder is an AI-based process optimization system for injection molding, developed by Chen Hsong. It covers the full production workflow from initial parameter setup through defect troubleshooting to mass production stabilization, combining deep learning algorithms with a process knowledge base built from Chen Hsong’s nearly 70 years of injection molding expertise.
Most process optimization tools in injection molding focus on a single stage, typically production stabilization. iChen™ AI Molder is designed to address three stages in sequence: generating a complete set of starting parameters from basic product information (sMolding), diagnosing defects and recommending corrective parameters within seconds (sTroubleshooting), and automatically monitoring and adjusting process parameters shot-by-shot during mass production (StabMolding). The system works with data the machine already generates, requiring no additional cavity pressure sensors or mold modifications, and is operational within 2-3 days of installation including operator training.
For manufacturers facing long mold trial cycles, a shortage of experienced process technicians, or inconsistent production quality across shifts, iChen™ AI Molder provides a practical, immediate solution that works alongside existing teams. It does not replace skilled operators but extends their capability, performing comprehensive multi-variable analysis that would take a technician significantly longer to work through manually.
Generate starting parameters in seconds, not hours.
Identify the problem and get corrective parameters immediately.
Tighter process control during mass production, automatically.
Works with data your machine already generates.
Install, train, and start using in the same week.
iChen™ AI Molder’s sMolding module calculates initial injection molding parameters based on basic product information including material type, product dimensions, weight, and mold configuration.
The system draws on Chen Hsong’s nearly 70 years of injection molding expertise, distilled into a comprehensive process knowledge base, to generate a complete parameter set, giving operators a scientifically grounded starting point instead of relying on trial and error.
First-shot cavity fill accuracy typically reaches 70-80%, significantly reducing the number of trial cycles needed.
iChen™ AI Molder’s sTroubleshooting module draws on a knowledge base of over 2,000 real-world defect cases, built from Chen Hsong’s decades of injection molding production expertise. When an operator identifies a defect, they select the defect type from the system interface.
Within seconds, AI Molder analyzes the root cause and recommends specific parameter adjustments to resolve the issue. The system learns from each correction, building a digital record of process knowledge that stays with the factory.
iChen™ AI Molder’s StabMolding module monitors key process metrics in real time during mass production using an SPC-EWMA hybrid model. It performs virtual inspection on every shot, comparing the real-time injection pressure curve against a reference profile.
When it detects deviation from the target process window, it automatically adjusts holding pressure and V-P switchover to compensate, without operator intervention. This delivers an average stability improvement of 25% (up to 30% in optimal conditions) as measured by standard deviation reduction in part weight and cushion position.
iChen™ AI Molder operates as a closed-loop process optimization system. During each injection molding cycle, it reads real-time machine data and uses it to maintain shot weight consistency, compensate for material viscosity fluctuations, and deliver shot-to-shot correction automatically.
The system adapts to batch-to-batch material variation and environmental changes without manual intervention, supporting consistent part quality even across shift changes. All corrections happen within the production cycle without extending cycle time.

iChen™ AI Molder is available as a standalone purchase or bundled with new Chen Hsong machine orders. Pricing depends on the machine model and modules selected. Contact our team for a quote.
iChen™ AI Molder is available on current-generation Chen Hsong injection molding machines equipped with Yaqi, Eston, or KEBA controllers. Contact our team to confirm compatibility with your specific machine model.
The sMolding and sTroubleshooting modules require a controller software upgrade and internet connection. The StabMolding module requires additional hardware installation.
No external cavity pressure sensors or mold modifications are needed. AI Molder works with data your machine already generates, including injection pressure, screw position, holding pressure, cooling time, and shot count.
Installation and operator training are typically completed within 2-3 days per machine.
Yes. iChen™ AI Molder requires an internet connection to operate. However, customer production process parameters are not stored on Chen Hsong’s servers. Production data remains within the customer’s facility.
iChen™ AI Molder performs well across most standard injection molding applications and materials. It is currently not optimized for optical-grade transparent parts where surface appearance defects require specialized assessment, or for high-cavity-count multi-cavity balancing applications. For these applications, combination with cavity pressure monitoring systems is recommended.
iChen™ AI Molder learns during actual production on each specific machine and mold combination.
The sMolding module uses the built-in defect knowledge base to generate initial parameters, while StabMolding trains on your machine’s real-time data from the first cycle. There is no cold-start performance degradation on new molds.
They are independent products within the iChen™ Smart Family. AI Molder operates at the machine level, optimizing process parameters on individual machines.
iChen™ Cloud operates at the factory level, managing production, quality, energy, scheduling, and logistics across the entire operation. They complement each other but neither requires the other to function.
SPC (Statistical Process Control) monitors whether a process is operating within defined limits. EWMA (Exponentially Weighted Moving Average) is a statistical method that gives more weight to recent data points, making it more sensitive to small process shifts than traditional SPC charts.
iChen™ AI Molder combines both methods to detect process drift early and trigger automatic parameter corrections before quality is affected.
iChen™ AI Molder includes operator training, on-site mold trial demonstration, post-deployment usage tracking, and ongoing software upgrades.
